IN-LAWS

Kazakhstan, 2018, 93 min
Format: DCP
Director: Nurtas Adambay

Synopsis:

This is a fun story about how a young couple decided to tie the knot.

But their parents, or rather mothers, do not share the same joy when they hear the “shocking” news…

“The Iron Lady” Zhannet, Diana’s mother, strongly opposes such a hasty and unexpected decision. The fiancé’s mother Raikhan, too, is trying to convince her son to think again.
But the young people are adamant about their decision. Their parents have no choice but to arrange a kudalyk (Kazakh for “engagement ceremony”), during which their fears and doubts are once again proven true. Anyway, they start wedding preparations.
Everything seems to be alright and all they have to do is to wait for the scheduled date, but Zhannet and Raikhan keep on trying to affect their children. In the end, their efforts pay off. The young people come to the conclusion that their mothers were right and that they are too different. The wedding is off.
Will Daniyar and Diana get back in touch? Will the in-laws from Almaty and Shymkent be able to get along with each other?
