SEPTEMBER 14-20, 2019
Almaty Film Festival took part at Marche du Film in Cannes.

In May, the Almaty Film Festival and the Almaty Film Commission were presented in Cannes at the major world film market.

From May 14 to 23, 2019, with the support of the Almaty Government, the Almaty Film Festival and the Almaty Film Commission took part at Marche du Film film market at the Cannes Film Festival.

At the festival booth guests could see all the iconic sights of Almaty and the Almaty region with virtual reality glasses and fully plunged into the beauty of Kazakhstan’s nature: from snowy peaks to steppes, deserts and semi-desert zones.

Marche du Film is the largest international business forum of experts in the world film industry. Every year around 110 countries and 15,000 participants take part in the market.

Their number is growing each year, and the film market, including Kazakhstan, is presenting more and more prominent projects.

This is the place where foreign filmmakers get acquainted with the achievements of our country film industry.

”We are trying not only to get the world community acquainted with the film industry of Kazakhstan, but also to tell the public and guests of Cannes that our country, in particular the city of Almaty and the Almaty region, is a set of unique locations, different climatic zones and opportunities for shooting films of any genre”, noted Ernar Kurmashev, the General Producer of the Almaty Film Festival.

”We were also able to arise interest in our activities among international media representatives who will attend Almaty in September in order to provide media coverage of the Almaty Film Festival worldwide, in particular, The Hollywood Reporter, Euronews and Cineuropa”, noted Elena Larionova, the Program Director of the Almaty Film Festival.

Colleagues from the world film community not only offer to present their films at the Almaty Film Festival, but are also interested in the Almaty Film Commission, since it aims to create the most favorable conditions for shooting international films in Almaty and the Almaty region, and this may help to attract large investments to the city.
