A few years after Belarus gained independence, the young Velya (Evelina) dreams of moving to Chicago to pursue her passion for house music. However, obtaining a visa proves difficult, but determined to leave the country, she buys a letter of employment on the black market.

Darya Zhuk

Born in Minsk in 1980. Graduate of Columbia University MFA program in Directing. She lives and works between Minsk and Brooklyn. Her shorts have been selected to numerous festivals. “Crystal Swan” is her feature debut.
